Volunteer Opportunities
We are always in need of catechists, core members, and classroom helpers to teach in our religious education classes or to help lead Little Church or Children’s Liturgy of the Word. Our children and young people truly are the Catholic leaders of tomorrow and the future of the Church. Please consider joining us in this essential ministry.
All materials and lesson plans are provided. Parish and diocesan-led in-service sessions are held throughout the year to help you grow in your own faith and improve your skills and knowledge as a Catechist.
You do not need to be an experienced teacher to volunteer. (However, experienced teachers are certainly encouraged to apply!) If you are not comfortable leading a class by yourself, we always welcome volunteers to serve as classroom helpers or to assist in other roles. If you feel called to work with children or teens and to teach the Faith to the youngest generation of Catholics, please prayerfully consider volunteering.
Virtus Training: Protecting God’s Children.
All volunteers who work with children are required to attend a Protecting God’s Children session.
These sessions are 2-3 hours in length and are typically offered in the fall at various locations throughout the Diocese, including Marquette. Volunteers need only to attend one session. More information can be found here on the Diocese of Marquette website
For more information or to volunteer, contact Katie Flaherty in the religious education office at 226-6548 x207 or at kflaherty@stpetercathedral.org
