Shawl Ministry

“Wrapped in the love of God – Warmed by the heart of the community”
St. Peter Cathedral has an active shawl ministry to serve those in our parish who may be having a difficult time because of illness, loss of a loved one or a job, a move, homesickness, stress, etc.  The shawl is a reminder of God’s ever present love.
The yarn and pattern are given to the knitter and the shawl is returned to the group when completed.  It is then blessed by the group before being given away on behalf of the parish.  The person receiving the shawl is not charged .  This is not a fund raiser, but a ministry.
Anyone interested in knitting a prayer shawl and joining our ministry is invited to join us on the first and third Mondays of each month between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.  We meet in the John Paul II Room in the lower level of the cathedral.  Please bring knitting needles size 11 or 13  – either straight or circular.  Suggestions of possible prayer shawl recipients are always welcome.
