o the left of the sanctuary stands the statue of the Virgin Mary, it is executed in solid, natural colored marble. The pieces, although untouched by stains or artificial tints, are in the saints' traditional colors and were acquired in many lands.  Each of these marble pieces was carved separately, then fitted together, so that no joints are seen.
